Nokia started its journey 150 years ago as a paper mill on a riverside and has evolved as a global telecommunication leader. During its journey to success, Nokia has manufactured car tyres, rubber boots, TVs, and also generated electricity. Believing in adapting to changes with the times, this company has emerged up as the best telecommunication leader which connects 1.3 billion people worldwide.The company originated in 1865 by an engineer named Fredrik Idestam. He stood up with the first paper mill at Tammerskoski Rapids in southwestern Finland. Then in 1871, he opened second paper mill on the Nikanvirta river bank which inspired him to derive the name 'NOKIA Ab' to his company.Further, in 1898, Eduard Polon started with a rubber business and this company started manufacturing everything from galoshes to rubber tyres.
At that time, Nokia also manufactured rubber boots which became quite famous at that time and can be still found in the market these days though Nokia does not make them anymore.In 1912, Nokia diversified in the field of electronics when Arvid Wickstrom founded electronic and cable business. For years, Finnish Cable worked closely with Nokia Ab and rubber works, and eventually started branching out its electronics. In 1962, Nokia successfully made its first electronic device in-house which was a pulse analyzer used in nuclear power plants.In 1963, the journey to success took another twist as this company started developing radio telephones for the emergency services and army. In 1967, new Nokia Corporation had five ventures merged together and they were cable, rubber, electronics, power generation, and rubber.
The mobile era began in 1979, when Nokia created its radio telephone company as a joint venture with on of the leading TV maker 'Salora' at that time. Nokia launched the Nordic Mobile Network in 1981 and became the world's first company to start Screw & Barrel For Single Screw Extruder Suppliers international cellular network. This mobile phone industry then began to expand rapidly setting new milestones and then in 1982 it introduced its first car phone name the Mobira Senator and then followed with the innovation of the first digital telephone Nokia DX200.Then there was no looking back as this company marked its name as a key player in the development of the new technology of mobile phones and took full advantage of the technology. As the time lapsed, Nokia manufactured various other handsets and also was the first one to launch the caller tunes. By 1991, Nokia has developed multitasking mobile phones which supported various features like mobile phones, music player, internet, and various other features and has become the pioneer in the industry of mobile phones.
